Odd Water the Otter

A friend of mine commissioned me for a picture of his blue otter character, Odd Water. He has his towel and is ready for an afternoon in the pool. Micron pen, Prismacolor markers, and white gel pen touch-ups on 9" x 12" smooth Bristol.

I took this as an opportunity to work on my anatomy skills. I find the male body harder to draw than the female body. Practicing with anthropromorphic animals makes it more fun. I find humans uninteresting to draw.

Shading is another weak point I have, but I think I'm getting better. I've been studying how other artists shade their characters (Livestreams are awesome for this), and trying to incorporate what I've picked up from them in my own drawings.

I'm quite proud of how the towel and swimming trunks turned out. I'm really happy with this piece overall.

Ice Lion ACEO

Starting this art blog off with an ACEO I did of my character Sarakazi a couple of weeks ago. She's an African lion with ice powers. Pencil and Prismacolor markers on 3.5 by 2.5 inch smooth Bristol. White gel pen details.
